Cholesterol

There is this song I found on youtube called "Cintai Dengan Caramu" by the band Cholesterol. It is a very special song for me, for a very personal reason. This was the song that got me through a recent, very bad, breakup. I just listened to this over and over, morning and night, and one day I was able to set foot out in the world again.

I have no idea where the band is from. I don't know what the song title means. I don't understand the lyrics or even know what language it's in. As far as I know, they might be saying, "cut down the rain forests, beach the whales, exterminate the doomed." I hope not, and I don't think so. It's such a beautiful song, they could only be talking about heartbreak. Music is a universal language, and we don't always have to understand the words.

I'll try to find out more about the band and see if they have other songs as good as this one. As far as I'm concerned, they're "good" Cholesterol.

In the meantime, here is a link, below, to this song (at least for as long as this link works, that is, it's youtube, after all)...

Sonic Obsessions

People who know me will tell you that the only thing I like better than music is sleeping, reading, long walks, tacos, spaceships, crime novels, sex, college basketball, hang gliding, grilling out, family, cats, ghost stories, bicycling, amusement parks, board games, snorkeling, kite making, Hitchcock, Formula One, world history, exploring ghost towns, diners, tofu, giving back to the community, girls, alternative healing, kicking around the beanbag, beer, college football, chilling, trouble, Pynchon, anything French, backpacking, hot sauce, YMCA, birdwatching, dogs, naps, cross country trips, sewing, chess, pickles, Rick Bayless, shopping, chocolate, model rockets, clowns, and smoking.

Not true! I quit smoking! And I like music BETTER than all of the above. I do wish there were about a dozen of me to enjoy all the things I enjoy, but only if we didn't have to share. Not that I don't like sharing. In fact, I've started this "blog" in order to share some of my favorite music. This is not just the music I listen to with my "pod" and "buds," this is music I like to put cracks in concrete foundations by utilizing my enormous Western Electric tube amplification system and Klipshorn "Voice of the Theatre" speakers!

Check it out, and enjoy!
